Some Frequently Asked Questions...
1) Are you affiliated with any denomination? No.
2) Are you just another Southern Baptist Church? See answer to #1 and add this thought... though we respect other denominations and churches... we are not Southern Baptist nor like any other church.
3) Are people allowed to have questions/doubts about God, Jesus, Bible, church etc.? Yes, we are a very "questions" friendly church. We welcome and encourage all skeptics, undecideds, and nonbelievers to see TGP as a safe place to explore the claims of Christ and discover "church" anew.
4) Are you conservative, liberal, or progressive? Politically speaking, neither. We are a contemporary, progressive, affirming Christian chuch focused on Jesus and His Gospel of Grace.
5) Do you take sin seriously? Sure we do. But not in a legalistic, religious way that labels, condemns, and judges. It is not our job to change people, that is reserved for the Holy Spirit to do according to His desires. We do not see sin as merely a behavioral, moralistic issue that defines a person and is thus remedied by rules, steps, striving, guilt trips, and fear tactics. Sin can even look like the good (and even spiritual) behavior we are doing, but doing so apart from a foundation of Grace and an expression of Christ within us. Our focus is not on sin, but on the Savior; His performance, not ours.
6) What is your worship style? Contemporary (Worship Band, Rock, Stage lighting etc.)
7) I have gay friends, will they be welcome there? Not only welcomed, but wanted, loved, affirmed and celebrated along with everyone else.
8) What should I wear to a Sunday service? We prefer people wear clothes. After that, whatever you want.
9) I read through your website, almost sounds too good to be true, is it? We sure hope not!
